Site diary template
A site diary is the day's record for an area: the weather, who was there, what was done against the plan, what arrived, who visited and what held the work up. Write it on the day, and have it signed off before the shift ends.
Free, with no sign-up. A4 portrait, one page. The spreadsheet adds up the totals for you.

Read the guides
- What to record in a site diaryWhat to write in each day's entry, how to write it so it still stands up a year later, and why it should match the hours booked.
- Standing time: recording idle plant and labourWhat standing time is, why idle machines and gangs are usually claimed as a delay rather than daywork, and how to record them so they get paid.
- What UK courts say about site recordsFive UK court cases that show how site records win or lose a dispute, and what each one means for the people who keep the diary and the daywork sheets.
Keeping it in Dayworks
In Dayworks, each area's diary starts from the day's briefing, with the activities, the hours booked and the weather already on it. Once a manager signs it off it's locked, and it goes out as a sheet like this one.
